AIM
  • To reduce deaths on the spot of road crashes and while victims are being transported to hospitals.

  • To speed up the take off of National FA programme in African countries as recommended by meeting of experts at the African Road Safety Conference Accra, Ghana, 5-7 February 2007.

  • To share best practice on First Aid administration for road users.

  • To raise awareness of the benefits of FA and its life saving potential by providing evidence, guidance and advice.

  • To allay the fears road users and policy makers may have about FA application and help them understand that an FA policy is in the interest of all road users.

  • Mobilise members, volunteers and donors for FA programmes.

  • Attract favourable stakeholders attention.

  • To create avenue for generation of financial resources for the many under funded national road safety agencies in Africa through the commercial FA training of drivers and issuance of proficiency FA certificate to drivers.

Specific vision

  • Reduce deaths, injuries, disabilities and associated social costs of road traffic crashes.

  • Strengthen and scale up efforts on road safety by joining the campaign to end preventable road crashes.

  • Strengthen existing national road safety capacity for rescue operations by mobilising significant new volunteers to support and scale up best practices in road safety development.

  • To develop a standard programme on FA campaign that can be replicated and scaled up to continental levels.
